How to use it
- Type the topic - what someone would search to find your video, e.g. sourdough bread recipe, not the whole clever title.

Where the tags come from
Every suggestion is a real query from YouTube's search box: what people type when they look for videos like yours. The generator asks YouTube for the topic itself, for "how to", "best" and "tutorial" variants, and for the topic followed by every letter of the alphabet, then removes duplicates and ranks the ones that contain your topic first.
That is why the list looks like search phrases and not single words - because that is how tags are used: YouTube matches them against searches to understand what the video is about and where it belongs.

Are tags still important on YouTube?
Less than they were. YouTube says tags play a minimal role and mainly help with misspellings. Title, thumbnail, description and what viewers do after clicking matter far more - tags are a finishing touch.
How many tags should I use?
As many as truly describe the video, within the 500-character limit - usually 10 to 20. The first tag carries the most weight.
Can I see another video's tags?
Tags are hidden on the watch page but present in its source code - look for the keywords meta tag. Copying a competitor's tags rarely helps; their video already ranks for them.
Where do I add tags in YouTube Studio?
Studio → Content → pick the video → Details → Show more → Tags. Paste the comma-separated list.
